'Together at Christmas in Blackpool'
Delighted to attend the The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales Together at Christmas Community Carol Service this evening, hosted by the Lord-Lieutenant of Lancashire Mrs Amanda Parker JP. This was the regional carol service for Lancashire taking place at the same time as the Princess of Wales annual carol service at Westminster Abbey.
Entertainment included the Lytham St Annes Shanty Crew, DanceSyndrome, the Scream Threatre Children’s Group, the Preston Nepali Fellowship and the Fijian Choir by kind permission of the Commanding Officer of 1st Battalion the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment.
The Princess of Wales wrote a letter to accompany the Order of Service, as shown above…
“The Christmas story encourages us to consider the experiences and feelings of others. It also reflects our own vulnerabilities and reminds us of the importance of giving and receiving empathy, as well as just how much we need each other in spite of our differences.
“Above all else, it encourages us to turn to love, not fear. The love that we show ourselves and the love we show others.
“Love that listens with empathy, love that is kind and understanding, love that is forgiving, and love that brings joy and hope.
“It is this love which is the greatest gift we can receive. Not just at Christmas, but every day of our lives. Love is the light that can shine bright, even in our darkest times.”
Great to see the Mayor of Pendle Mohammad Aslam, Deputy Mayor of the Ribble Valley, Mayor of Clitheroe and representatives of the Armed Forces Support Group, Barnoldswick & District Royal British Legion and other local groups there.
