Colne rower Gregg Stevenson wins World Championship gold medal on his birthday in Belgrade
Colne rower Gregg Stevenson hailed World Championship gold medal success as the perfect birthday present after starting Great Britain’s gold rush in Belgrade. Gregg from Colne, who turned 39 on the 9th of September, teamed up with Lauren Rowles to earn victory in a thrilling PR2 mixed double sculls final which saw the British pair put under serious pressure by China’s Liu Shuang and Jiang Jijian.
Gregg is a Military Veteran and a casualty from the War in Afghanistan and suffered amputation of both legs there but, typical of this family man, he gritted his teeth and got on with it ... as well as representing GB in the Paralympic's, Gregg works for BLESMA, the military Charity for limbless service people and INSPIRE, the mental health charity with a bias towards Military Veterans ...
We have been very fortunate that Gregg has agreed to open our Christmas Fair so please come along and meet a real Hero, on so many levels ...
