The Official opening of the Armed Forces Support Group (AFSG) Extension

The group of Veterans  were delighted to have many members and supporters join them for their 10th anniversary and the official opening of the new extension, to the Barrowford Holmefield House Annex Offices.

The last 8 months have been hectic, with many of  Speakman company builders working on the end of the current office, to create an extension,  Thornes security people wiring up around us, and other helpers and volunteers from the local community have  helped in keeping the team in operation and it has not been easy. However the complete project has been done totally locally to everyone’s satisfaction

Mrs Christiana Buchanan Deputy Lord Lieutenant for our area was kind enough to perform the opening ceremony for us and was generous in her supporting comments on what we do and have achieved.

Followed by Mrs Diane Springthorpe of ASDA Colne, the ASDA foundation has been very generous in its support, as we were bringing a derelict building back into public use, we qualified for their help, and the new facility will partly be used on our own Mental Health support for Veterans.

The AFSG team operate right across the Pendle Area, straying a little when asked, into Yorkshire.

The event was supported by Andrew Stephenson MP, Pendle Mayor Cllr Brian Newman, and Councillors from Pendle and Barrowford

The M.C. for the event was Michael Sutcliff Chairman of the AFSG.
