H5N1 CONFIRMED NEAR WETHERAL, CUMBRIA

Highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 have been confirmed at a premises near Wetheral, Cumberland, Cumbria.

A 3km Protection Zone and a 10km Surveillance Zone has been put in place around the premises. Further information about this case is available on GOV.UK.

An Avian Influenza Prevention Zone (AIPZ) with mandatory biosecurity measures is also in force across Great Britain.

All bird keepers must follow the stringent biosecurity measures in addition to following any Protection/Surveillance Zone in their area to prevent future outbreaks.
