H5N1 CONFIRMED NEAR WELSHPOOL, POWYS. 3KM PROTECTION & 10KM SURVEILLANCE ZONES ARE IN PLACE

Highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 has been confirmed at a premises near Welshpool, Powys. A 3km Protection Zone and 10km Surveillance Zone are in place around the premises. The Surveillance Zone extends into England. Please check GOV.WALES and GOV.UK for further information.

An Avian Influenza Prevention Zone (AIPZ) with mandatory housing measures is now in place across of England and an Avian Influenza Prevention Zone (AIPZ) with mandatory biosecurity measures is also in force across Great Britain.

All bird keepers must follow stringent biosecurity measures, any regional housing measures/Protection/Surveillance Zone restrictions in their area to prevent future outbreaks.
