Highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 has been confirmed at a premises near Pontyberem, Carmarthenshire. A 3km Captive Bird (Monitoring) Controlled Zone has been put in place around the premises.

An Avian Influenza Prevention Zone (AIPZ) with mandatory housing measures is in force in Wales.

All bird keepers must remain vigilant & follow the stringent AIPZ mandatory biosecurity measures, which are also in force across Great Britain, in addition to following any Protection/Captive Bird (Monitoring) Controlled or Surveillance Zone restrictions in their area.
