TWO FURTHER CASES OF H5N1 CONFIRMED - CAPTIVE BIRDS NEAR WATTON, NORFOLK & LARGE COMMERCIAL POULTRY PREMISES NEAR SWAFFHAM,NORFOLK

Two further cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 have been confirmed. Please check GOV.UK for further information about the following cases:

  • A small backyard flock of captive birds near Watton, Breckland, Norfolk. A 3km Captive Bird (Monitoring) Controlled Zone has been put in place around the premises.
  • A large commercial poultry premises near Swaffham, Breckland, Norfolk. A 3km Protection Zone and 10km Surveillance Zone have been put in place around the premises.

An Avian Influenza Prevention Zone (AIPZ) with mandatory housing measures is in place in England. All bird keepers must remain vigilant & follow the stringent AIPZ mandatory biosecurity measures, which are also in force across Great Britain.

All bird keepers must follow stringent biosecurity measures, housing measures/Protection/Surveillance Zone restrictions in their area to prevent future outbreaks.
