H5N1 CONFIRMED AT 2ND PREMISES NEAR PENICUIK,SCOTTISH BORDERS & AT A LARGE COMMERCIAL POULTRY FLOCK NEAR YORK,NORTH YORKSHIRE

Two cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 have been confirmed as follows:

at a second premises near Penicuik, Scottish Borders.
in a large commercial poultry flock near York, York, North Yorkshire.

A 3km Protection Zone and 10km Surveillance Zone have been put in place around each premises. Please check GOV.SCOT and GOV.UK for further information.

An Avian Influenza Prevention Zone (AIPZ) with mandatory housing measures is now in place in England and Wales and an AIPZ with mandatory biosecurity measures is also in force across Great Britain.

All bird keepers should remain vigilant and follow stringent biosecurity measures as detailed on GOV.SCOT and GOV.UK and follow the housing measures/Protection/Surveillance Zone restrictions in their area that apply to prevent future outbreaks.
